A Sister’s Hero

Michael Castaneda and sister Jennifer Martinez

Today is a very special day for me.

Not only did we put this first time home buyer into a condo he loves, but this first-time home buyer is my little brother! My little brother made our entire family proud when he was accepted into the San Jose Fire Department. He came to my husband Ray and I when he decided to purchase his first condo, and continues to make our family proud. Michael understands the meaning of hard work, and the value of homeownership.

What really impresses me about my little brother is his drive.

Michael is only 27 years old, but yet he is so focused. On top of his day to day career, Michael is currently enrolled at San Jose State in pursuit of his Masters Degree. Michael donates countless hours to the Boys and Girls Club, Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, and Via West where he is a camp counselor for children with Autism/ Cerebral Palsy. Even with all that he continues to donate hours to his fellow firefighters as a mentor to the Fire Explorers Program, and teaches CPR classes.

Michael has been an inspiration to me, and to countless individuals in need of his help.

Michael Castaneda YOU are my real life Hero!!! Congratulations, brother. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this new home! We all love you. Enjoy.
